- Weigh-in: This week was a little rough. I only put up a 0.8 pound loss this week.
- Exercise completed: I did The Shred on Monday and Zumba the rest of the week.
- Splurge/guilty pleasure: Oh boy...well, like I said at last week's weigh-in, it was that time of the month...and apparently I have no self-control when I have my period. This is the crap food I ate Thursday evening through Saturday: McDonald's - chicken nugget kid's meal, Taco John's - 2 tacos, a crispy chicken burrito, potato oles, and mini sopapilla bites {not all for one meal...I hit up TJ's twice last week}, Papa John's - 2 pieces of a large pizza, Zestos - a soft pretzel, Hyvee - an egg roll, and a big serving of yogurt from CherryBerry with crushed candy bars on top. So yeah, considering all that, I'm lucky that I lost anything this week.
- Success story: I got back to better eating habits and tracking on Sunday. I was going to exercise that day too but I felt like crap {deservingly so}. Not sure how much of success that is considering my previous 2 1/2 days but I needed to put a stop to it.
- Recipes/photos: No photos....I'll try to remember to take one for next week!

a little miscellany
- I didn't write a weekend recap post this week because we didn't really do much of anything over the weekend.
- I had lunch with my friend, Andrea, today and her little girl. Andrea is the teacher I'm working under this summer. She has been really fun to work with.
- I can't even explain how happy I was to see this picture on Facebook today from Bath&Body Works. I'm so ready for fall!
- I spent about a half hour this afternoon looking through this website and writing down ideas for my lunches this school year. I got pretty tired of sandwiches and apples last year so I'm glad to have some new ideas.
- I'm planning to make one of my bulletin boards into quote/thought area where I'll post a new thought each week. I've been collecting some quotes and thoughts that I like so I can start making some posters. A few of my favorites:
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
Be so happy that when others look at you they become happy too.
One person can make a difference and everyone should try.
- That's all I've got. We haven't had a whole lot going on lately other than work so I just don't have much to post about. :o)

children's museum
My friend, Tasha, brought her kids to town yesterday to play at the Children's Museum. I hadn't been to the museum yet so I was excited to check it out too. It was built in the school that I worked at my first year with the district so it was fun to look around and remember what different spaces used to be.
Our first stop was the outdoor campus to see Mama.
It was hot so we headed back inside and shopped at the grocery store for awhile.
They spent quite a bit of time in the grocery store. Some other activities they enjoyed were water play, painting, and the spinning sand art.
I enjoyed the various sayings and murals painted on the walls. Some of my favorites...
It was a good time but I tell ya, I was so ready to go by the time we were heading out. I was amazed by how some parents just looked at this place as a free-for-all for their kids. Some of the kid's behavior was horrible and the parents were either not around or just looked the other way. Tasha had to talk to one little boy who was chucking chunks of wood towards her youngest daughter because his grandparents were totally oblivious of what he was doing. Overall it was a good day though and it was great to spend time with Tasha and her kids.

cardboard box diet
I remembered to weigh in this morning!
- Weigh-in: I was once again down 1.4 pounds. Didn't make that 2 pound mark that I was hoping for but considering the time of month, I'll take any loss!
- Exercise completed: This is probably the biggest reason why I didn't do better. I did the Shred on Sunday and Monday and haven't done anything since. I've been tired and crabby most of the week and exercise was the last thing I wanted to do {though I know I should have anyway}.
- Splurge/guilty pleasure: Other than my "day off", I've had no splurges.
- Success story: I guess that I had a loss this week even though I was a lazy a$$. Not sure that's necessarily a success though.
- Recipes/photos: No recipes or photos this week so back to Pinterest for inspiration....
Hope ya all had a good week....I'll be around later tonight/tomorrow to visit ya!

weekend recap
My mom came up on Saturday so we could go to the Brookings*Arts Festival together. Dave acted as our taxi driver so we didn't have to park a mile away and dropped us off a block from the park. Neither of us bought anything while we were there. I did see these in one booth and thought about getting them but I think I might be able to make them myself.
Blurry pic since I was trying to hurry.
We both felt like we couldn't look around much since there were so many people around.
That picture actually shows a pretty big break in the crowd for what most of the park was like. Since it was so crowded and hot, we called Dave less than an hour after he dropped us off to come pick us up.
We all went out together for lunch at a local pizza place. It was so nice to sit in the air conditioning!
After eating, my mom and I went out to Walmart to look around. It was pretty dead out there.
I decided to start purchasing school supplies early so it's easier on the budget. This is what I picked up while there.
I didn't really need a calculator but couldn't pass it up since it's so cute and only a dollar. Those notebooks were only 88 cents for the pack of 4! My students go through a ton of glue sticks so I thought I'd stock up on those this year, and you can never have enough Sharpies! Oh, and I bought that pink box so I can hide my Sharpies from my co-workers. :o)
Later that afternoon, my mom, Dave, and I went to Cherry*Berry. I got the salted caramel pretzel yogurt with some toppings.
Dave got strawberry with his signature sprinkles and mountain of boboas.
My mom headed back home later that afternoon. Dave and I just hung out for the rest of the day.
We did very little on Sunday. Dave visited his brother and I just hung out around home.
Hope ya all have a great week! Hopefully I'll start having something to blog about soon besides weekend recaps and the cbdiet!

cardboard box diet
- Weigh-in: I weighed in this morning {was planning to do it yesterday but forgot so guess I'll just stick with Fridays} and saw a 1.4 pound loss. This is the third week in a row I've been in the 1 pound loss area.... I'd really like to see a 2 next week!
- Exercise completed: Zumba Abs Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I started the 30 Day Shred again on Wednesday. Ugh...sore!
- Splurge/guilty pleasure: The only time I really "splurged" this last week was Saturday. Saturday is my "day off" though. Day off = day that I can eat what I want and not track calories {I use SparkPeople} and not feel bad about it. It helps me during the week if I am really craving something...I know I can have it on Saturday. Most of the time though the craving has passed and I don't do all that badly with my eating that day, but it is definitely a higher calorie day.
- Recipes/photos: Ok, this first one isn't really a recipe but a great idea I saw on Pinterest.
I also tried these over the past week:
Both were pretty good and had 9g of protein which I usually struggle to get enough of each day.
Ok, that's it for this week. Let's hope next week I report a 2# loss!!

Saturday:
That was pretty much it for our weekend. Hope you all had a good one and have a great week!
- Saturday started out with a trip to Sioux Falls with Jackie & Sarah (SIL & niece) to go to a big sale at Plato's*Closet. This was the line waiting to get in the store...
- Dave went to Conor's baseball game that afternoon but I stayed home.
- We went out for supper with my BIL's family.
- Nothing too exciting happened. We did some grocery shopping. Dave did some laundry.
- Oh and this...
That was pretty much it for our weekend. Hope you all had a good one and have a great week!

Cardboard Box Diet
The Cardboard Box Diet... I just learned about it from Emily yesterday and decided I'd like to join in too. It has nothing to do with a specific type of diet. It's designed to be a support system of sorts. If you want more info you can check it out here.
Okay, so each week I'll be answering a set of topics. This week's review:
So there's my first #cbdiet post. Next week I'll weigh-in on Thursday so I can link up the same day as everyone else.
- Weigh-in: I weighed in this morning and saw I only lost 1 pound this week. Not too surprising though considering the crap I ate last weekend.
- Exercise Completed: I started this week of really well. Monday I did Zumba Abs, Tuesday I did my Couch-2-5K program, and Wednesday I did Zumba Abs again. I planned on doing my C25K Thursday morning but after staying up late to watch fireworks, I just couldn't pull myself out of bed at 5:40. I did plan on going on a walk after work but I ended up going to Sioux Falls to go shopping with my friend/lead teacher. So I did get some walking in while shopping but I could have done better. Oh, and nothing today either. So yeah.....started the week out strong then slacked off.
- Splurge/Guilty Pleasure: Well, last weekend was pretty ugly as far as eating went. I had smores, puppy chow, Combos pretzels with cheese, some M&M snack mix. Yeah, it was bad. I felt like crap on Monday.
- Success Story: I did really well on the 4th with my eating and I exercised that morning.
- Recipes: I don't have anything for ya since I just learned about this yesterday. I will have something next week though.
- Photos: Well, same as above so I'll just use this pic that I found on Pinterest last week.
So there's my first #cbdiet post. Next week I'll weigh-in on Thursday so I can link up the same day as everyone else.

weekend recap
This last weekend was a lazy one. We didn't do much of anything. I even took a nap on Sunday... that's how lazy we were I was.
We did pull out the fire pit Saturday night though and invited my BIL's family over for smores.
I love roasted marshmallows.
A few pics of the family....
niece Sarah...
nephew Conor...
BIL Tony, SIL Jackie, and Sarah...
and Dave & me
That was pretty much it for the weekend. I did make a tank from a T-shirt that I had linked to in my last post but I'll show ya that some other time.
Have a great week!
