Goodbye April

It's hard to believe April will be over in a few short hours!

Things I’m looking forward to in May:

School related -
4th grade field trip to the Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead (looking forward to and sorta dreading at the same time) (3rd)
4th grade track meet (14th)
Last day of school!! (love our kids but I'm ready for a break!) (21st)

Non school events -
Memorial Day weekend (no plans yet but I always enjoy the kick off to summer)
Planting our garden (our first year with a real garden, should be interesting!)
Planting flowers!!
My birthday
Making a summer plan – the summer always goes by so quickly and I always feel like I sat around doing nothing once it’s over….i’m going to write up some things I’d like to do/accomplish over the summer

Hope you all have a great weekend!  :o)

Two Years

Today is our wedding anniversary.

I remember when we were trying to choose a date for our wedding, it was quite the process.  We didn't want the weather to be hot so June through September were out.  We didn't want it to be snowing so October through March were out.  My birthday is in May so that was out....I was thinking ahead...I didn't want a Happy Anniversay/Happy Birthday gift each year :o).  So we decided on April.  We picked the last weekend in April to be sure the snow would be gone and the weather would be getting nicer.

Well....that plan didn't work out for us so well as Mother Nature decided to send us a blizzard the day before our wedding.  It was a big one too....it even shut down the interstates.  One of my bridesmaids was snowed in on her farm but was able to make the drive on the day of the wedding.  Our photographer was late as she had to make a 200 mile drive.  I'm not sure how she got there but I was so thankful that she was able (and willing) to make the drive.  Once things got rolling we had a great day.  And here we are two years later.  :o)

Non Giveaway

I was contacted by a company a few weeks ago to do a giveaway of one of their products on my blog.  I was really excited as it was the first time I had been asked to do a giveaway.  I was told that I could choose any of their products, up to a $50 value.  Then I was told to do a little write up on my blog and I had to include a certain keyword linking up to their site.  Well, that was all and good except the keyword made absolutely no sense for my blog.  The keyword was something that I would  not be shopping for, especially since we live in an apartment.  I gave it a lot of thought and decided not to do it.  As much as I would love to give you guys a chance to win something, I just couldn't do it and feel good about it.

So sorry there is no giveaway (that you had no idea was even a possibility)....

Blogfrog

So can anyone tell me about blogfrog?  I have an account but I'm not really "getting it".

Do you use it?  Do you like it? What are the advantages of using it?

$2 Change Up

Well I really don't have anything too exciting to show ya but I'm trying to get myself back into blogging more frequently.......

We've had this medicine cabinet hanging in our bathroom since we moved in almost 4 years ago.  It was a cheap piece from W-Mart and it was really starting to show it's age.

Oh, it did have knobs on it but I didn't remember to take a pic til they were off.

I'd thought about painting it but since it was still winter (I did this back in early March), I knew it would be awhile before I'd be able to paint it.  I was sick of looking at it so it needed to go....now.

I took it off the wall only to find these awesome purple marks on the wall.  Grr...

I scrubbed and scrubbed with a bleach solution....still there.  So I ran to the store and picked up a box of the magic erasers.  Love those things.....took the marks right off.

I had two short shelves on hand that I was planning to put up in the cabinet's place.  I wasn't sure they'd fill the space enough so I took a trip to Goodwill to see what I could find.  And there it was .....a long shelf that matched the pair I already had, for only $2!  Obviously it was meant to be!  I came home and hung everything up....

Sooo much better!  The room seems lighter after taking down that heavy cabinet and hanging the shelves.  I just used the decor that was on the cabinet to decorate the shelves for now.  One of these days I'll get around to decorating them for real....and maybe painting them too.

Weekend Recap

David and I drove around town on Saturday looking for treasures.  It was city wide clean up so we were hoping to find something good.  We saw a lot of stuff but nothing good.  We spent some time at the library then decided to go to the local gardens.  A lot of it still looked like this.....

.....but there were some signs of spring around too....

Saturday night we saw Date Night..

It was pretty good and there were quite a few funny parts.  The funniest part of the whole thing wasn't in the movie though.  During the car/cab scene (if you've seen it you know what I mean), a lady in the audience just couldn't hold herself together.....OMG..this lady had the loudest laugh I have ever heard and she laughed nonstop for the entire scene (probably 4-5 minutes)....people were turning around to see who the crazy laughing chick was.  David and I started laughing because her laugh was so crazy and just didn't stop...it took me a bit to get my laughing under control....I didn't want to be the next crazy laugher.

David worked for awhile on Sunday then we spent the rest of the day just hanging out.  Nothing too exciting.

Easter bunnies

This afternoon I was just hanging out looking at some things on the internet when I heard a knock at the door.  I looked out the peep hole and didn't see anyone but I did hear the next door slam.  I didn't think much of it til another knock came at the door and again the door next door slammed shut.  So I peeked out the door and there sat two little bunnies next to the door.

How stinkin' cute are those?!  And how nice was it that two little guys that live next door made them for us!  It's fun little surprises like that that make your day!

Hope you all have a great Easter!
