Befores and afters

Last week I made a list of all the things I'd like to get done before we head back to school.  One of the things on the list was to do something about the blank wall in the kitchen.  I really didn't want to spend any money since I have plenty of things around here to use.  Problem was, nothing I had really worked on the wall.

So, I dug out this shelf and tried to find a way to make it work.

I wasn't overly thrilled with the way it looked (I just hung it on some nails that were already there as I tried to decide if I could make it work).  I thought with a little makeover it might just work.  I bought the shelf at a rummage sale when I was in college for $1 (I think) so I wasn't afraid to experiment with a different look.

So I took a hammer to it

and sawed the legs down (legs? I dunno what to call them).  Yup, I sawed it right on the living room floor.

Here is the after

Ignore the decorations please.  I'm not sure what to put up there yet.  Soon I'll have holiday decorations up there to take me through the next few months so I'll be set for awhile.  Oh, yes, the autumn plate.  I knew I wanted something on the platter so I cut some vinyl with my Cricut. Since it's almost fall, I figured why not?  I got a Christmas one ready to go too :o)

(I got the idea here.)

I finally found some brown zebra fabric at Hobby Lobby last week.  I recovered some lamp shades with the fabric.

Okay, one last before and after.  I got this idea from Pinterest (you can find the original post here).

Before (sort of, forgot to take pics before I started spraying)

and after

So easy...just glue two frames together to make a chunky frame.  Love it!  Really love that it was free since I already had the frames and the paint.  Now I just need to get a picture that actually fits the frame in there....and figure out what else to put on that shelf....oh yeah, and finish that to do list!

OMG. LOVE your hair. It's so cute.

I had seen that frame idea, and it's so awesome. I love the larger look with the frames together.

Your recovered lamps look amazing. I mean, really, they look so fancy. You did an awesome job! Your shelf looks great too, and the little plate that says "autumn" is so cute.

:)

Love your hair!!!! I just got mine cut for BTS too. I am still trying to get used to it.

Love the shelf, frame and lamp redos. Nice work.

I have a list of things I still want to do before I go back too. Not sure it will happen though LOL.

Insert "Ooooohs and Ahhhhhhs" HERE! I WISH I had your vision when re-doing items in my home. You have such a great eye and can see potential in what you have. I see, JUNK and am always stumped as of what to do. LOVE your hair AND the Double frame!
