Why?

Why are men allowed to make decisions such as where to place a thermostat (well, I'm assuming this was a man's doing because I can't see a woman thinking this would be good placement)?  We have 4 of these little beauties in our apartment and two of them really bother me.   Here's the one in the "dining room" which is really more of a nook off our living room.
Was that really the only place that thing could go?  I'm having a hard time deciding how to decorate around it.  I recently took the Live, Laugh, love signs thingies down and would like to put a shelf up, and possibly some plates(?).
The other one that bothers me is here in our bathroom:
Yup, they slapped this one up smack dab in the middle of the wall.  I'm in the process of changing decorations in the bathroom, that's why the wall decor is pretty sparse right now.  I'm having a hard time deciding how to decorate the wall here too because it's really hard to avoid having the thermostat as part of the decoration too.
Anyone have any good ideas?

Can you find some small oil paintings that have deep frames and hang them over the thermostats? This way you'll know where they are but nobody else has to. Our thermostat is right by the front door and in front of the heater and AC. Um does anyone else see a problem with that? The rest of the house doesn't have time to heat up or cool off. NICE! I feel your pain sister!

The Nester has interesting ideas. I'll look for the posts and come back. (Linked here through Nichole and Scott - real life friends with your name!)

Try this. It links you back to her original post, as well.

Why does every room have a thermostat? Are all of them functional? If not, I'd ask the maintenance guy to remove them and put flat plates over them so at least you could do something with the space.

Never mind, Brian just explained why you'd have those in every room and the utility bills....He's so logical.

Personally, and this is me, I'd probably buy some deep frames and colored gels for theatre lights to make them each look like a funky piece of art. That's me and I have very odd taste...

Hello, neighbor. I have the same problem middle of the wall, in the hallway. I just hung family pictures all around it.

Just checking in and hoping for an update. Did you find a solution you liked for your thermostats? Hope all is well. I'm happy to see one of my good friends has stopped by too. Makes me feel like we aren't so far apart.
