just what i needed

So yesterday I was looking around on Pinterest and I found a pin that said something like "awesome weight loss blogger...if you are trying to lose weight you must read her blog".  Well, I am working at losing weight so I clicked on it and started reading Mama Laughlin.  I read through her blog yesterday and started following her on Facebook.


Well, today, she posted a link on FB to another blogger who wrote this article.  It made me cry and was just what I needed to hear.

Since I've been gone....

Well, my blog sat quiet for 4 months.  While I was away, here are some notable things that happened:

• Dave and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary.
• I walked a 5k with my niece, Sarah.  Pretty sure she was mentally brushing up on her CPR skills as I huffed and puffed my way through.
• After walking the 5k, I decided I'd like to try to run one.  I've been using this couch to 5K app on my iPhone and I love it!  I have to admit though, I haven't been out at all this week.  I had some serious school burn-out {due to co-workers, not my students} and I'm just taking the rest of this week to relax.  I'm sure I'm going to regret that decision next week.

My current mantras to go along with the Couch to 5K training:

• We got a new car.

• And this one might be the best one of all -  I started watching Duck Dynasty.  Oh my Lord, if you haven't watched this one yet you need to! Hilarious!!

• On Sunday, I celebrated my 32^nd birthday.  I had a great day spending time with my mom & dad, my brother, my friend Tasha, and my husband.
• Yesterday was the last day of school for the staff. 

I’m sure there were other things that happened, but since I didn’t blog about them, I can’t remember anything else. ;o) 

end of the year thoughts

I can’t believe this school year is already over.  It was such a great year.  I had the best kids … my favorite group to date.  I had a group of three…2 sweet girls and 1 hilarious boy.

Day-to-day things I’ll miss over the summer:

-          hearing the song Red Solo Cup sung out loud at random times of the day

-          group hugs

-          before school surprise visits

-          questions from my boy about the 1980s and 1990s because they were sooo long ago

-          and just seeing my kids every day and all the fun we had.

As happy as I am to see summer vacation, I was sad to say good-bye to my kids today.  But, luckily I will have the same group next year. J

Our new nephew, baby Finn, was welcomed into the world this morning.  We haven't met him yet, but judging by the pictures he is pretty darn cute.  :o)

2012 Goals

I love coming up with goals for myself at the beginning of every year. I'm not always good at achieving them but I try anyway.


1 hour or less of computer Monday thru Friday...2 hours or less Saturday and Sunday (*per day)
**This is one that I plan to really focus on. I waste ridiculous amounts of time on the computer.


Read 2 books per month
**I really go in spurts with my reading. David bought me a Kindle for Christmas and I've already read 3 books, which is 3 more than I've read in the past 2-3 months.


Walk 30 minutes two times per week and Zumba two times per week
**I need to move more!


Pay off 1 credit card
**I still have college debt hanging over my head that I really need to get rid of!!


Make quinoa
**Because I always tell my friend Nicolle that I need to try it. I figure I'll actually remember to try it if I write it down.


Go vegetarian for 30 days
**Thinking I'll try this in the summer when fruits and vegetables are cheaper and taste better.


Run a 5K
**Probably Definitely the scariest goal I've set for myself.


Keep up with Project 2012
**I thought this sounded like a fun project and so easy since you can use pictures from your cell phone.


Create a goal each month
**Mini goals that I'll set out to accomplish each month. I'll try to remember to blog about each one.

Nothing much going on around here. 
We have a half day of school tomorrow, then we are off until January 3.  :o)
I'm thisclose to being done with Christmas shopping.  I just have a few stocking stuffers left to pick up.
Considering I've been gone from the blog for almost a month, I doubt I'll be back on this year. 
So....hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy New Year celebration!
