A Green Heart With a Black Thumb

I had a bit of spring fever last Friday so I stopped at the W-Mart to pick up some flower seeds. I'm horrible with plants so I decided to get two 20 cent packs of wildflower seeds. Cheap and hopefully won't need much attention since they are wildflowers. Anyway, I was surprised when I looked over at the cups the other day and saw how much they had grown in 5 days.
I thought it would take longer to for them to emerge so now I have two "problems". How do I keep them alive until the end of May when I can put them outside and where will I keep them if they continue to grow at this rate?
This is the makeshift greenhouse they've been growing in. It won't be long until they are too tall to stay in there. I don't have a lot of confidence that I can keep them alive once they are out in "the real world". Eh, for 40 cents I'll just be glad I got something to grow at all!

I have no experience in this area! I've only bought mature plants, but hopefully you'll get some good advice here. Good luck! I'm sure that with TLC, your flowers will do fine.

I love these pictures and I love the first one that is heart shaped! Looks like you did good for your money, they are taking off really well! I think you can keep them inside until May. They'll stay ok as they are, but will only grow to a certain point in their containers. They won't die inside, but they will only reach a certain growth until they have more room!

I can't wait to see how they look outside!

ps....I'm glad we feel the same about "stuff" on our fridge! Also, Boyd is doing better. Thanks! I feel so creepy that my son got ringworm, but I know it's nothing we did! :))

That is so cool, I'd never have thought of that. And I kill everything! :)

Yaya and I have planted several things this spring. I too have a black thumb and was amazed that all my seedlings were doing sooo well. That was until I asked my hubby and dtr to transplant them into bigger pots. They broke have of the leaves off the top and then Yaya has continued to pick the rest. I have 1 plant left and have pretty much given up. Something to consider is this, my mom said the stems will grow longer when they need more sun. Try to get them out in the sun if you can this may help slow down the growth so the stems can support the leaves later. AGAIN, I have a black thumb and had to hear this from my mom. Can you find one of those plastic shelves that has the plastic cover with a zippered opening? This way you could put them in the sun and they'd be protected a little more from the cold weather. It kinda acts like your makeshift cake cover.

Wish I could be helpful in this area...but I am not!! I KILL everykind of plant there is. One time whenever my MIL was still alive she had given a rubber tree plant and told me that there was NO way I could kill it. Well, guess what!?!? Yep!! I killed it! LOL!!

Hugs!! Carrie♥

I love your little greenhouse! That picture is so funny. :) I'll have to buy some wildflowers for Misha - if they're easy to grow, they'll be perfect. He's so excited about planting a garden.
