Open Wide

I went to the dentist today. It's been awhile since I last visited a dentist and I started having some pain in a few teeth awhile ago. So anyway, the dentist looked at my teeth then had some X-rays taken. Turns out that not one, two, or even three of my teeth have problems. Nope, turns out ALL of my molars have one issue or another. Great. I have to go back in next week for a full cleaning and then they are going to write out an action plan. Sounds like it's going to be awhile before I'm finished. Not good considering I have extremely high anxiety when dealing with any type of doctor appointment. I was seriously fighting back tears today and all they did was take X-rays and pictures. I'm going to need drugs, lots and lots of drugs.

Hey Nichole!! Just wanted to leave you a quick note and tell you that everything will be fine. I too have a HUGE fear of doctors of any sort.

I actually suffer from Panic attacks occasionally and believe it or not the doctor, dentist and even medications are my number one cause. Strange I know!!

So trust me, you can do it!! Just take baby step at a time!!

Hugs!! Carrie♥

My girlfriend actually takes antianxiety pills before going to the dentist.

You aren't alone in this department. I almost passed out when I was told I would have to have my wisdom teeth removed and they showed me how they were impacted. I seriously started to see stars and had to lay down. I waited 3 more years to have them pulled. Thankfully, the next dentist chose to knock me out first. I don't think I could have done it if I had to be awake.
I'll keep you in my prayers for courage and strength. Hang in there!

Oh girl, I feel SO bad for you! I had a really bad dentist experience several years ago, and I have high anxiety just hearing the word! Get them to give you some of the gas when you go back....they should do it, and it will help you a lot!!!

I am sure it will be ok and if you let them know you are anxious, they should be kind! You can do it!

Get gassed. A friend of mine swears by it.

Also, request to have it done in only two visits, one side each visit. The fewer visits, the better. Last time I went I almost had to go back to have the rest of the work done because the dentist couldn't get my mouth numb. Absolutely not. I am here, get it done.

Make sure you let you school know you may be absent the next day. I had to miss half a day after my last round of dental work.

Ugh. I am sorry you have to deal with all of that.

I'm not a big fan of the dentist either. I hope everything goes well though. They will give you something if you need/ask for it.
