weekend recap and so on

  • Dave and I went out for Mexican & a movie Friday night. We saw 42, which was really good.
  • Saturday night we watched our niece go through grand march at the prom.
  • We met my mom and brother in Huron for lunch on Sunday.
  • I started the couch-to-5k training again today.  I ran through each running session, with no breaks, and even ran an extra minute at the end.  Huge improvement from the other times I've started it.
  • 83 days until we run The Color Run. Saying I should have started the C25K weeks ago would be a huge understatement.  I am so excited though and can't wait to cross this off my bucket list.

  • We're a full month into spring and this is what it looks like outside today:

Yeah, not cool.  We got out of school at 1:30 today.  Third week in a row that we've had time off because of the snow.

Spring has to arrive sometime, right?!

weekend recap

My mom and I went shopping together in Sioux Falls on Saturday.  We hit most of my favorite stores but I didn't buy a whole lot.  Just a couple car air fresheners at Bath & Body Works and some picture frames at Michaels.  We also stopped at a cupcake shop while we were in town.  I got a smores cupcake that was sooo good!

Dave and I just hung out around home Saturday night.  I can't even remember what we did other than make a HyVee run for supper. We're super exciting sometimes. ;o)

Sunday we did some grocery shopping and ran some errands.  I spent most of the afternoon making hairties and listing them on Etsy.
lillyleetree.etsy.com if you're interested :o)

We went to Cherry Berry for a treat once I was done.

And yes, I did just post about trying to lose 10 pounds this month and then ate cupcakes and frozen yogurt over the weekend.

Hope ya all had a good weekend and have a great week!

happy new year/weekend recap

Happy New Year! I hope everyone one had a fun and safe celebration last night! Dave and I drove down to Sioux Falls yesterday to have a nice lunch.  We stopped to visit my sister-in-law and her family while we were in town also.  Last night we spent some time with my brother-in-law's family.  We came back home just before midnight.  I crawled in bed to watch the ball drop and was asleep shortly after. Pretty wild, I know. ;o)
.....................................................

We headed to my parent's house Saturday afternoon so we could attend a surprise party for my aunt and cousin that night.

Linda and her family

my mom and her sister

Lindsy, my aunt, my mom, and me

We came back home after lunch on Sunday so we'd be home in time for the Vikings/Packers game.  I was super happy that the Vikings won, but not excited to see they'd be playing them again this coming Sunday.
....................................................

We're just hanging around home today trying to decide what to do.  I have a couple projects I want to work on but not sure if I have the motivation today to do anything that big.

Hope you have a great week!

weekend recap

I drove to my mom's house after school on Friday.  We had plans to work on her Christmas decorations and do some baking over the weekend.

Saturday morning we went to Mitchell to do some shopping.  We went to a local store that had over 50 Christmas trees decorated.  It was awesome...Christmas Heaven!!  I took a bunch of pictures.  I was trying to take them quickly and not look like an idiot so some of them are a little blurry.  I loved that 12 foot (I'm guessing) tree in the first picture!

All that and I walked out of the store with one little ornament.

It started snowing again (it had snowed Friday afternoon too) on our drive back to my mom's house. The snow got heavier the closer we got to my mom's.  I decided to head back to Brookings when we heard that blizzard warnings were being issued for Sunday.  I took me awhile to get back since I had to drive about 45 mph for most of the 100 mile drive but the snow was really pretty.

We woke up this morning to the blizzard so we stuck around home all day.  Well, I did anyway.  David decided he needed to walk two blocks to the grocery store since our road was blown in and didn't think he should try to drive there.

Even though the snow ruined my plans with my mom, I was still so happy to have a real snow fall!

We've made good use of the snowy day...we watched the Vikings game and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and I baked some cut out cookies using my grandma's recipe and cookie cutters.

I got the call a few hours ago that we'll be starting school two hours late tomorrow!  Woo hoo!

Have a great week!

weekend recap

Saturday was SDSU's homecoming, known as Hobo Day.  My parents came up for part of the day and joined us at the parade.   It was a little chilly for the parade with the temperature in the mid 20s.

We got a good view of our nephew this year in the high school band.

We hung out around home the rest of the day. We watched The Five Year Engagement Saturday night. I thought it was pretty lame and Dave thought it was ok.

I spent a good chunk of Sunday painting a Christmas sign for myself.

I distressed this one.

I painted one for my mom last weekend.

Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to seal them since it's too cold to do it outside with the spray I usually use.

Hope ya all have a great week!

weekend recap

Dave and I headed for Mitchell Saturday morning to attend my godson's 8th birthday party.

We went to my mom's house that afternoon.  My brother was an usher in his friend's wedding so we didn't get to see much of him.  Just a quick hi and a picture and that was it.

We spent the rest of the Saturday and part of Sunday hanging out at my mom's house.  It was a relaxing weekend!

Hope you're having a great week!

five for friday

1. Summer school is over!  We did a 10 week session, which is 4 weeks longer than regular summer school.  I enjoyed it {most of the time} but am so glad to have the next two weeks off before school starts again.

2.  I'm happy to report that I broke the 20 pound weight loss marker this week!  I've lost 21.4 pounds to be exact.  I decided to stop doing the cbdiet posts because I wasn't getting the support from other participants for whatever reason so I feel kind of silly to keep posting about it.  So, I think I'll just update once a month or every two weeks in a regular post.  I haven't had any pop for over 5 months now so that's another another success for me.

3. Tomorrow I'll be heading to Sioux Falls to have a girl's day with my friend, Tasha.  We're planning to do some shopping and meet up with our cousin for lunch.

4.  My mom and I will also be spending some time together next week.  We try to do something together each summer.  We don't have any definite plans set other than to shop and eat. :o)

5.  Fall is coming!!  I'm so excited!  I'm just not a summer person.  I don't enjoy being hot and sweaty.  We're forecasted to have temps in the high 70s the next couple days so it makes me even more excited for fall.  I've been pinning lots of fall pictures and recipes that I'd like to try. Can't wait!

Hope ya all have a great weekend!

weekend recap

My mom came up on Saturday so we could go to the Brookings*Arts Festival together.  Dave acted as our taxi driver so we didn't have to park a mile away and dropped us off a block from the park.  Neither of us bought anything while we were there.  I did see these in one booth and thought about getting them but I think I might be able to make them myself.
Blurry pic since I was trying to hurry.

We both felt like we couldn't look around much since there were so many people around.

That picture actually shows a pretty big break in the crowd for what most of the park was like.  Since it was so crowded and hot, we called Dave less than an hour after he dropped us off to come pick us up.

We all went out together for lunch at a local pizza place.  It was so nice to sit in the air conditioning!

After eating, my mom and I went out to Walmart to look around.  It was pretty dead out there.
I decided to start purchasing school supplies early so it's easier on the budget.  This is what I picked up while there.
I didn't really need a calculator but couldn't pass it up since it's so cute and only a dollar.  Those notebooks were only 88 cents for the pack of 4!  My students go through a ton of glue sticks so I thought I'd stock up on those this year, and you can never have enough Sharpies!  Oh, and I bought that pink box so I can hide my Sharpies from my co-workers. :o)

Later that afternoon, my mom, Dave, and I went to Cherry*Berry.  I got the salted caramel pretzel yogurt with some toppings.
Dave got strawberry with his signature sprinkles and mountain of boboas.

My mom headed back home later that afternoon.  Dave and I just hung out for the rest of the day.

We did very little on Sunday.  Dave visited his brother and I just hung out around home.

Hope ya all have a great week!  Hopefully I'll start having something to blog about soon besides weekend recaps and the cbdiet!

Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Weekend Recap

That's a long title for no more than I have to post about :o)

*Dave started Thanksgiving Day out by running in a Turkey Day 5K.

*My parents joined us for Thanksgiving dinner.  Dave made a 19 pound turkey.  Yes, a 19 pound turkey for the four of us.

*I did some Black Friday shopping at Wal*Mart here in town.  Ugh, worst experience ever.  I did get the sheets I wanted but that was all.  There were too many people to even want to look for anything else.  I also went to Sioux Falls with my sister-in-law and niece to hit the midnight sales.  Craziness.  I bought very little but the people watching at the mall was great.

*I saw this chick while I was waiting in line at Bath&Body Works.  Her whole group was dressed in camo with the black under eye makeup.  I saw lots of groups dressed in themes at the mall but this one was the best.

*I put up the Christmas decorations on Friday.  I told my friend Nicolle that I feel like we have our Christmas decorations up in March or something.  It doesn't feel like Christmastime at all.

*We had a Thanksgiving meal with Dave's family on Saturday.

*We spent Sunday being lazy and recovering from all the food/shopping  ;o)

Have a good week!

Weekend Recap

Dave and his brother, Tony, ran a 5K Saturday morning.  It was a pretty chilly morning.  The temp was in the low 40s with a wind chill in the high 30s.

I had to stand across the road and face the sun to take pictures so they aren't the greatest.

starting (Dave in the yellow hat and Tony in the stocking hat)

Since it was chilly, I smartly sat in the car and drank hot chocolate and ate pumpkin bread while I waited from them to finish. :o)

finishing

Dave finished with a time of 26:13, his best time yet.  Tony finished shortly after.

As soon as they were done running, I headed out of town to meet my mom so we could go to Sioux Falls.  We did some shopping and visited my uncle in the hospital.  He had a bone marrow transplant last week so he'll be in the hospital for quite awhile.  He's doing pretty well right now considering all he's been through.

Dave and I hung out around home most of the day today.  We watched the MN Vikings lose yet another game.  After the game we took a drive out in the country.

I thought that line of trees was so cool looking.

Now we're just lounging again.  I'm going to make some brownies soon so we can have warm brownies with vanilla bean ice cream for dessert. :o)

Hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week!
