weekend recap

Saturday was SDSU's homecoming, known as Hobo Day.  My parents came up for part of the day and joined us at the parade.   It was a little chilly for the parade with the temperature in the mid 20s.

We got a good view of our nephew this year in the high school band.

We hung out around home the rest of the day. We watched The Five Year Engagement Saturday night. I thought it was pretty lame and Dave thought it was ok.

I spent a good chunk of Sunday painting a Christmas sign for myself.

I distressed this one.

I painted one for my mom last weekend.

Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to seal them since it's too cold to do it outside with the spray I usually use.

Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Weekend Recap

That's a long title for no more than I have to post about :o)

*Dave started Thanksgiving Day out by running in a Turkey Day 5K. 

*My parents joined us for Thanksgiving dinner.  Dave made a 19 pound turkey.  Yes, a 19 pound turkey for the four of us.

*I did some Black Friday shopping at Wal*Mart here in town.  Ugh, worst experience ever.  I did get the sheets I wanted but that was all.  There were too many people to even want to look for anything else.  I also went to Sioux Falls with my sister-in-law and niece to hit the midnight sales.  Craziness.  I bought very little but the people watching at the mall was great.

*I saw this chick while I was waiting in line at Bath&Body Works.  Her whole group was dressed in camo with the black under eye makeup.  I saw lots of groups dressed in themes at the mall but this one was the best.

*I put up the Christmas decorations on Friday.  I told my friend Nicolle that I feel like we have our Christmas decorations up in March or something.  It doesn't feel like Christmastime at all. 

*We had a Thanksgiving meal with Dave's family on Saturday. 

*We spent Sunday being lazy and recovering from all the food/shopping  ;o)

Miscellany Monday

- I had an AWESOME weekend.  I rode home with my brother Friday afternoon and spent the whole weekend at my mom's.  I got in a lot of family time and friend time, which makes me a happy girl.  Some things I did while home:
  -- spent some quality time with my brother.  I laughed a lot and learned some things about him that I maybe didn't need to know ;o)
  -- went shopping with my mom
  -- went out for supper with my mom and dad Friday night
  -- had Sunday lunch and supper with my family
  -- visited my Grandma H. and listened to her interesting stories she had to tell that day (she has Alzheimer's)
  -- spent time with my friends Tasha and Trisha


-I took my camera home with me so I could get pictures while I was there.  It sat in the camera bag the whole weekend so I have zero pictures from the weekend.

- My flowers were looking pretty sad today since they hadn't been watered for three days (forgot to ask Dave to do that for me while I was gone).  So, I spent a good half hour watering them only to have it rain an hour later.

- Halloween candy is on the shelves :o)

- I ordered some shoes last week.  They arrived today and they are too tight :o(.  I have the hardest time finding shoes that fit right.

- That's about it.  Nothing too exciting around here.  I'm just enjoying the last couple weeks of summer break :o)



PS - I found out about Misc. Monday over at This Southern Girl's Nest and thought I'd start joining in too :o)

Misc.

My mom has been "on vacation" the past 6 days so she came up to visit.  My dad and brother are doing a job in the area so we went to see their jobsite (they build electrical substations) while she was here.  All I had with me was my camera phone so I couldn't get any close-ups.

28 days until inservice starts.  I'm kind of not ready for school this year.  Good thing I have 28 days to get used to the idea.

It's way past my bedtime (1:08 am) and I'm still not sleepy.  I've spent the past few hours on Pinterest and looking at blogs.  Super good use of my time.  :s

Ohh...looks like tonight's episode of Teen Mom is replaying right now. Score! I spared my husband from that one tonight...totally made him sit through Pretty Little Liars though.

And that's about all I got.  I was planning to show you our super awesome volunteer pumpkin plant this week.  But, some jerkface weed-eated it Monday morning.  Sorry.  I know you were dying to see a picture of a pumpkin plant.

Weekend Recap

Well my flowers made it through the storm on Saturday night.  I lost one sunflower and the rest looked a little sad after the storms but they're still going strong.  We had 3 rounds of  small hail, high winds and about 2 1/2 inches of rain in an hour and a half.  David was working so I just stood on our patio and watched the storm come in. 

We were really lucky as some communites around us had trees down, campers tipped over, and roofs torn off.  Because of all the rain we had some flooding.  It didn't take long before it all soaked in though.  The track behind us looked like a small lake with a moat going around it.

Our cul-de-sac was flooded too.  My neighbors driving through it....

I love the bokeh on that picture (that is what that is right?)  Not sure how that happened...

On Sunday I had lunch with my parents.  They came up to look at the furniture stores for a new table & chairs.  My mom got one ordered, so now they'll be back up in a few weeks to pick it all up.

Weekend Recap

Dave has been working all weekend so I've been trying to find ways to keep myself busy. I went to Goodwill after school on Friday. I didn't find anything too exciting but I did find this garden cart type thingy for $1.I spray painted it black then added some Spanish moss and pumpkins and here's how it looks now.

I went to a church rummage sale yesterday and scored these two items.

The sleigh is 12 inches long, and it was only 25 cents! I also got a brand new wedding memories book for $2. Now I need to get to work on that.

My parents came up yesterday to attend SDSU's football game. They came up early so my mom and I did a little shopping together, but didn't end up buying anything. We met back up with my dad and we all went out to lunch together.

That's about all I've done this weekend besides some cleaning and grocery shopping. Embarrassing tidbit: I vacuumed my carpet differently yesterday and it left the best vacuum lines! Loved it so much that I vacuumed again this morning. Anyone else love those lines (I know my name twin does :o) )?
