weekend recap - bullet style

• Dave and I went out for supper Friday night to celebrate his birthday.
• Dave surprised me with some flowers Saturday morning.

• We invited Tony, Jackie, and Sarah over Saturday night to share Dave's birthday dessert.  I made this peach dessert.
• Sunday evening we went out to supper with Tony, Jackie, Sarah, and Conor.

I've had a heavy heart since I read this blog post yesterday telling about the passing of Julee's husband, Matt. Even though I don't know her or her family personally, I feel like I know them from reading her blog over the past few years.  Such a sad reminder that life can change in an instant.

Since I've been gone....

Well, my blog sat quiet for 4 months.  While I was away, here are some notable things that happened:

• Dave and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary.
• I walked a 5k with my niece, Sarah.  Pretty sure she was mentally brushing up on her CPR skills as I huffed and puffed my way through.
• After walking the 5k, I decided I'd like to try to run one.  I've been using this couch to 5K app on my iPhone and I love it!  I have to admit though, I haven't been out at all this week.  I had some serious school burn-out {due to co-workers, not my students} and I'm just taking the rest of this week to relax.  I'm sure I'm going to regret that decision next week.

My current mantras to go along with the Couch to 5K training:

• We got a new car.

• And this one might be the best one of all -  I started watching Duck Dynasty.  Oh my Lord, if you haven't watched this one yet you need to! Hilarious!!

• On Sunday, I celebrated my 32^nd birthday.  I had a great day spending time with my mom & dad, my brother, my friend Tasha, and my husband.
• Yesterday was the last day of school for the staff. 

I’m sure there were other things that happened, but since I didn’t blog about them, I can’t remember anything else. ;o) 

Weekend randoms

My mom and I went shopping on Saturday.  I got quite a bit of stuff that I've been wanting but not needing.

The best part is that it was guilt-free shopping because I used my birthday money and gift cards!  Love that :o)

My flowers really took off this weekend.  I was surprised to see how many had opened when I got back home Saturday evening.  Now if I can just remember to water them more than once a week...

30 to 31

Did anyone else have a hard time going from 30 to 31?  Today is my birthday and I'm having a hard time with it this year for some reason.  I've pretty much always thought age is just a number and never really understood why people lied about their age, got depressed around their birthdays, etc. 

Last year I had a little bump in the road when I turned 30....nothing like this year though.  I don't think it's really the number that bothers me so much as that I look back and feel like I should have accomplished more by this point. 

Ugh...midlife crisis at 31...is that possible?

Happy, Happy Me!

I spent quite a bit of time in our office this past week doing some cleaning and organizing.  I pulled out all my cardstock and orgazined it by color.

I put all my little items into glass canisters.

I went through all the little odds n ends of fabric and wood pieces I had laying around.  I finally filed all our statements and paystubs.  I felt like it took forever to get through everything and get my desk cleaned off.

It was well worth it though because I knew this was on its way:

My husband bought me a Cricut for my birthday!

I'm so excited to start on some projects!  Luckily I don't have too much to learn to get started.  We have one at school and I just learned how to use it before the end of the year.  I could always use some tips and pointers if you have any though!

30

Today is my birthday.  My 30th.  Not sure how I feel about that yet.  Good thing I have a whole year to get used to it!

Shopping!

I went downtown yesterday to do some browsing at the antique shops. Dave had told me I could get myself a birthday gift if I found anything I liked so I wasn't going to to turn that down! I got this scale and a couple little boxes to put on top.A couple books to set my little lamp on...and my favorite purchase..
And maybe some day I'll learn how to take decent pictures so you don't have look keep looking at pictures like these :o)
