Non Giveaway

I was contacted by a company a few weeks ago to do a giveaway of one of their products on my blog.  I was really excited as it was the first time I had been asked to do a giveaway.  I was told that I could choose any of their products, up to a $50 value.  Then I was told to do a little write up on my blog and I had to include a certain keyword linking up to their site.  Well, that was all and good except the keyword made absolutely no sense for my blog.  The keyword was something that I would  not be shopping for, especially since we live in an apartment.  I gave it a lot of thought and decided not to do it.  As much as I would love to give you guys a chance to win something, I just couldn't do it and feel good about it.

So sorry there is no giveaway (that you had no idea was even a possibility)....

Blogfrog

So can anyone tell me about blogfrog?  I have an account but I'm not really "getting it".

Do you use it?  Do you like it? What are the advantages of using it?

$2 Change Up

Well I really don't have anything too exciting to show ya but I'm trying to get myself back into blogging more frequently.......

We've had this medicine cabinet hanging in our bathroom since we moved in almost 4 years ago.  It was a cheap piece from W-Mart and it was really starting to show it's age.

Oh, it did have knobs on it but I didn't remember to take a pic til they were off.

I'd thought about painting it but since it was still winter (I did this back in early March), I knew it would be awhile before I'd be able to paint it.  I was sick of looking at it so it needed to go....now.

I took it off the wall only to find these awesome purple marks on the wall.  Grr...

I scrubbed and scrubbed with a bleach solution....still there.  So I ran to the store and picked up a box of the magic erasers.  Love those things.....took the marks right off.

I had two short shelves on hand that I was planning to put up in the cabinet's place.  I wasn't sure they'd fill the space enough so I took a trip to Goodwill to see what I could find.  And there it was .....a long shelf that matched the pair I already had, for only $2!  Obviously it was meant to be!  I came home and hung everything up....

Sooo much better!  The room seems lighter after taking down that heavy cabinet and hanging the shelves.  I just used the decor that was on the cabinet to decorate the shelves for now.  One of these days I'll get around to decorating them for real....and maybe painting them too.

Weekend Recap

David and I drove around town on Saturday looking for treasures.  It was city wide clean up so we were hoping to find something good.  We saw a lot of stuff but nothing good.  We spent some time at the library then decided to go to the local gardens.  A lot of it still looked like this.....

.....but there were some signs of spring around too....

Saturday night we saw Date Night..

It was pretty good and there were quite a few funny parts.  The funniest part of the whole thing wasn't in the movie though.  During the car/cab scene (if you've seen it you know what I mean), a lady in the audience just couldn't hold herself together.....OMG..this lady had the loudest laugh I have ever heard and she laughed nonstop for the entire scene (probably 4-5 minutes)....people were turning around to see who the crazy laughing chick was.  David and I started laughing because her laugh was so crazy and just didn't stop...it took me a bit to get my laughing under control....I didn't want to be the next crazy laugher.

David worked for awhile on Sunday then we spent the rest of the day just hanging out.  Nothing too exciting.

Easter bunnies

This afternoon I was just hanging out looking at some things on the internet when I heard a knock at the door.  I looked out the peep hole and didn't see anyone but I did hear the next door slam.  I didn't think much of it til another knock came at the door and again the door next door slammed shut.  So I peeked out the door and there sat two little bunnies next to the door.

How stinkin' cute are those?!  And how nice was it that two little guys that live next door made them for us!  It's fun little surprises like that that make your day!

Hope you all have a great Easter!

HOME

I got my project finished and hung up over the weekend.  I LOVE it!!
So I've had this little sign hung up over our pantry/closet door for quite awhile now.  I intended to find other things to hang around it to fill the area out a little more.  I never did get around to it and that little sign looked so lonely and out of place up there by itself.

So I decided that I wanted to try something else up there.  I have a small pile of wood that I took from my grandma's house when we were cleaning it out to be sold last summer.  My grandpa had a small wood shop that he made lots of little projects in when he was alive so he had a pretty big supply of wood.  My brother and I spent a lot of time out in that shop with him.  My grandma was our babysitter when we were little so we were at their house everyday.  Anyway....I decided I wanted to paint some sort of sign to hang above the door.  I took one of the boards, painted it green, then tried to decide what to paint on it.  It was about 7 inches tall and about 34 inches or so long.  I couldn't come up with anything so I looked around on Etsy for some inspiration.  I came across something that I just loved.  So I cut up my long board to make smaller pieces, painted them, and ordered some letters on Uppercase Living.

I really, really like it!  I fills the space so much better and best of all it only cost about $10 (for the letters).  The keys are from a package of chipboard keys that I bought a little over a year ago.

Out of Hibernation

With spring starting tomorrow I'm starting to feel like I'm finally coming out of my slump.  We've had a little more sunshine and yesterday it was in the 40s (back to the 20s today, but hey we had one nice day!).  The sunshine definitely helps my mood and gets me moving.

We had a three day school week (Mon-Wed) this week but I had a hard time looking forward to the break.  I had a dentist appointment on Thursday morning that I was just dreading.  It was just a check up and cleaning but one tooth has been bothering me quite a bit.  The same tooth that they put a crown on this summer and said they might need to do a root canal later if that didn't fix it.  So...I was not looking forward to telling them that tooth was bothering me again because I did not want to hear that I needed a root canal.  Well, everything went great and my teeth are fine.  They think that tooth has just been aggravated by my teeth grinding at night.  Whew!  Not I just get to "look forward" to my last two wisdom teeth being removed this summer.

Otherwise not much else has been going on.  David and I have been doing quite a bit of spring cleaning the past couple weeks.  I've been doing some redecorating too and a few craft projects here and there.
I'll show ya this one in full once I have it hung up the way I want it.  I'll show you some of the redecorating too in the near future.

We had a really pretty sunset tonight.  I grabbed my camera quick and went outside.  I didn't get very good pictures though.  I guess standing outside in a t-shirt and socks in 27 degrees makes me hurry a bit when taking pics :o)

Hope ya all have a great weekend!

PS - I was wearing pants too...I just reread that and it didn't sound quite right....I normally wear pants when I'm outside...especially when it's below freezing  ;o)
